Candeias News report Festival

Corcovado developed an innovative project to raise awareness about sustainability in the city of Candeias, Minas Gerais and rallied the city’s entire population around the cause. The company invited environmentalist Paul Randow to help bring the community together and mobilize young people to become agents of socio-environmental change. He came up with the idea of creating the Candeias News Report Festival with the help of eighth grade students from the local schools. A total of 35 teams of young students were given the challenge to produce a news report based on the theme “Environment and Sustainability in the municipality of Candeias.” Corcovado provided a camcorder and tripod to each school and organized workshops to teach the students filmmaking techniques. The event was celebrated with a large party and the creators of the best video were rewarded with a visit to the city of Vitória.
